Jeff and Deann Carter - Czech Republic

Appointed in 2002 to a youth-focused assignment in partnership with the European Baptist Federation, the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague and Acadia Divinity College, the Carters are based in the Czech Republic, researching youth ministry training needs of the 50-plus member union of the European Baptist Federation.

Jeff received his education at Nova Scotia Agricultural College (with a view to agricultural missions); theological training at Acadia Divinity College (M.Div. and M.R.E.); and later completed a Doctor of Ministry degree at McMaster Divinity College. Jeff taught for four months in Bolivia with Canadian Baptist Volunteers and began to learn Spanish. He has served as Christian Education Director at First Baptist Church and has served on staff with IVCF Canada, and as IVCF Coordinator in the Atlantic Provinces.

Deann is a graduate of Acadia (M.Div. and M.Th.). She also has a Diploma in Prison Ministry from Acadia. Deann pastored a five-point charge in Lower Granville, NS. Both Jeff and Deann were ordained through the Atlantic Baptist Convention. Jeff and Deann feel that God has called them to work together in a singular calling in missions.

Jeff enjoys the arts, music and painting. Deann enjoys reading and cross-stitch.

They have one son, Zachary who loves swimming, piano and playing ball.

Terry & Patricia Janke - Bolivia

Terry and Pat Janke were appointed in May 2002 for missionary service to Cochabamba, Bolivia, for ministry in theological education at the Baptist Theological Seminary.

Terry was born into a Christian family in Hanover, ON. He is a graduate of Providence Bible College (formerly Winnipeg Bible College, B.A. in Biblical Studies) and Acadia Divinity College (M.Div. and Diploma in Prison Ministry).

Patricia was born in Winnipeg, MB. She is a graduate of Laurentian University (B.A. in Native Studies) and Acadia University (B.Ed.).

Terry and Pat met at Providence Bible College and felt a deep sense of call to marriage and ministry together. Terry served as a summer student minister at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Eagle River, and eventually responded to their call to be their first full time pastor, where they served from 1982-1987. After Terry completed his M. Div. at Acadia, the Jankes moved to Thunder Bay, ON, to pastor First Baptist Church. Pat worked as an elementary school teacher and for 10 years taught music to young children.

Terry likes sports, carpentry and playing guitar. Patricia loves all things musical, enjoys cross country skiing, swimming and quilting.

The Jankes have three children - Emily, Joel, and Jonathan.
